Collaborating with Our Children’s Trust

Our Future” has a statewide focus. An important partner for PSS in this initiative is Our Children’s Trust (OCT). OCT’s mission is to elevate the voice of youth to secure the right to a stable climate and healthy atmosphere for their future.

  • OCT supports 21 youth plaintiffs who are taking the U.S. government to federal court, demanding science-based action on climate change.
  • The Juliana trial will be held in an U.S. District Court in Eugene, Oregon, and is currently slated to begin on February 5, 2018.

In addition to work on specific projects chosen by the club at your school, PSS will offer “Our Future” participants multiple opportunities to connect their local efforts to ongoing work in support of this important case.

About Our Future

“Our Future – a student alliance for a healthy future” is a network of
High School clubs working to make positive change. The network is being designed and supported by Partners for Sustainable Schools, a Eugene-based non-profit.

The goals of “Our Future” are to:

  • Facilitate the development of student-led, adult-supported teams.
  • Identify projects and activities best suited to the interests of the team and your school.
  • Foster the knowledge, skills, and opportunities for engagement around environmental sustainability, social justice, the impact of climate change, and the ongoing objectives of Our Children’s Trust youth plaintiffs (described below).
