South Eugene High

Our Mission

A stable climate is a human right! South’s Earth Guardians 350 club uses civics, activism, and education as tools to create systemic and local change.

History

EG350 South was formed three years ago in partnership with Earth Guardians 350 Eugene to create opportunities for activism, education, and civics at South Eugene High School and beyond.

Projects/Events planned for this year:

Oregon Youth Legislative Initiative on Climate Justice: The Oregon Youth Legislative Initiative (OYLI) on Climate Justice is a youth-led environmental lobbying program that connects high-school students across Oregon to their state senators in an attempt to lobby state senators to endorse and pass climate legislation. Our goal is to close the gap between concerned youth and their government representatives and to work together with policy-makers to ensure a livable climate for our generation as well as all generations to come.

Sustainability: working on making South Eugene High School a more earth friendly building through advocating for renewable energy, getting new windows to conserve energy and money, and encouraging students to lead environmentally friendly lives.

Oregon Green School: working on making South Eugene High School a certified Oregon Green School through composting, recycling, and more.
